1. Public Prosecutor
No of posts: 26 Posts
Scale of Pay: Rs. 65000-112000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 18500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible
Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University of India (established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or State Act) or an Institute recognized by the Government of Assam or by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Service Qualification: Having practice as an Advocate including in the High Court for a period of not less than 8 years, basically on the criminal side.
2. Additional Public Prosecutor
No of posts: 88 Posts
Scale of Pay: Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 17500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University of India (established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or State Act) or an Institute recognized by the Government of Assam or by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Service Qualification: Having practiced as an Advocate including in the High Court for a period of not less than 7 (seven) years, basically on the criminal side.
3. Special Public Prosecutor
No of posts: 03 Posts
Scale of Pay: Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 17500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University of India (established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or State Act) or an Institute recognized by the Government of Assam or by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Service Qualification: Having practiced as an Advocate including in the High Court for a period of not less than 7 years, basically on the criminal side.
4. Special Public Prosecutor
No of posts: 185 Posts
Scale of Pay: Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 16900 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible
Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University of India (established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or State Act) or an Institute recognized by the Government of Assam or by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Service Qualification: Having practiced as an Advocate including in the High Court for a period of not less than 7 (seven) years, basically on the criminal side.

Age Limit for Home & Political Department Recruitment
Age (as on 01.01.2023): As per Government norms; relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates, 3 years for OBC/ MOBC candidates; 10 years for Persons with Disability, and for Ex-Servicemen shall be 50 (fifty) years for Unreserved category and shall be relaxed by 3 (three) years for OBC/MOBC candidates and 5 (five) years for SC/ST candidates.

How to Apply for Home & Political Department Assam Recruitment
The intending applicants are requested to submit typed applications in the Format to be uploaded on Home and Political Department’s website along with all necessary documents to the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home & Political Department, Room No. 226, Block-C, 2nd Floor, Janata Bhawan, Dispur, Guwahati 6, by Speed Post/ Registered Post/ by Hand between 11:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on all working days, clearly mentioning on the envelope, the post applied for and such application, complete in all aspects, should reach the office of the undersigned on or before 30.11.2023. A separate application must be submitted for each post. Applications received after that date shall not be opened and shall not be considered for recruitment.
Documents to be submitted:
Duly fill up the application form, affixing a self-attested Photograph on the top right side of the Form, along with self-attested photocopies of the following documents/ certificates:
- (i) Matriculation/10th Standard/ HSLC Admit Card/ Pass Certificate issued by Central/ State Board, having a clear indication of the Date of Birth.
- (ii) Pass Certificates and Mark sheets of all examinations from Matriculation/ 10th Standard/ HSLC onwards up to the level of qualifying examination.
- (iii) Document showing Date of Enrolment, with a self-declaration that after enrolment he/ she has not left practice as an Advocate and has not joined any other service/ profession/ business. In case contrary facts to such claim, come to the fore subsequently, his/ her candidature shall be rejected and may even lead to termination from service if detected after joining service.
- (iv) 2 (two) Passport size photographs.
