Educational Qualification:
- A Master Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from recognized University.
- A Ph. D. Degree in concerned/allied/ relevant discipline(s) in the institutions concerned with evidence of published work.
- Associate Professor/Professor with a total experience of Fifteen years of teaching/ research/ Administration in University/Colleges and other institutions of Higher Education.
- A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on Performance Based Appraisal in Appendix III for direct recruitment of Professor in Colleges.
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/Differently abled ( Physically and visually different abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
- A relaxation of 5% may may be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph. D .Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
- Upper age limit of 55 years as prescribed Rules.
- The term of appointment of the College Principal shall be five years of till the age of retirement whichever is earlier.
- A minimum of 10 (ten) research publication in peer reviewed or also UGC listed Journals.
- A minimum of 110 Research Score as per Appendix II at Table- 2.

Candidates are invited to submit their applications in the format prescribed by the Director of Higher Education (DHE), Assam. The submission must include:
- A complete bio-data
- Supporting testimonials (in duplicate) from HSLC onwards
- A Demand Draft of ₹3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand only), drawn in favor of the Principal, Cachar College, Silchar, payable at the State Bank of India, Silchar Branch.
